Artist Retreat

The Artist Retreat project is a thoughtfully designed building situated amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Peak District in Sheffield. Its primary purpose is to provide a haven for artists from various disciplines. The design of the building takes full advantage of its surroundings, seamlessly integrating with the slopes of the site and embracing the expansive views of the Peaks. The retreat comprises essential living spaces such as a bedroom, kitchen, and toilet, but its true centerpiece is the large double-height studio, which includes a Mezzanine level. This studio space is carefully crafted to inspire creativity, featuring strategically angled skylights set at 35 degrees, allowing the studio to capture abundant northern light, which is highly prized by artists, while simultaneously preventing glare on canvases. The Artist Retreat not only provides a serene and functional living environment but also fosters an atmosphere conducive to artistic exploration and expression.
