This project aimed to foster a sense of community and improve social cohesion within the vibrant London Road neighborhood. Specifically designed to cater to hospitality workers, who were predominantly commuters, the project centered around a unique concept called the "Food Library", which comprised of a communal kitchen, pavilion and children's play space. This architectural endeavor incorporated modular elements, notably in the pavilion and kids' play area, allowing for adaptability and flexibility.
The project went beyond the confines of the kitchen and pavilion, providing a dedicated play area for children. This space encouraged leisurely play and enabled kids to engage with one another, fostering friendships and intergenerational connections. The red wooden structure alluded to Bernard Tschumi's steel "Follies", which were used as nodes of culture and connection in his famously successful Parc de la Vilette project.
